Years in the game?
Producer for 7, Performer for almost 4 (I was a chickenshit)
What drew you to Burlesque?
My friend Lelu Lenore invited me to a show about 10 years ago and my head exploded. I always knew I was a performer inside, but didn’t realize that my world would go from black-and-white to technicolor that night. I became obsessed with this art form, and started Bearlesque.
What 3 three things in your background gives you a legup on being a performer or assist you in being the performer you are?
I think my love of entertaining. I love making people laugh. I also get to work with the best burlesque women around, who inspire me to keep updating & producing my very best. And I think I’m pretty creative, at least try to be!
Tell us about one of your acts and why you created it.
One of my acts I created is about my Dad. People know of my Construction Worker Act, and I’d argue it’s my most well-known number. But it’s about a regular blue-collar guy who is hired to fix the stage, and instead he decides to perform. My dad was a singer and musician and he gave it up to have kids and I always wondered, like if he knew how to still perform. Like does that go away? So that’s what the number is & I created it for him.
What’s the best advice someone has given you and who was it?
Liberty Rose once said “the audience doesn’t care that you’re nervous. They’re here to see a Netflix movie on this stage, and they want you to do well. So do well”. Anytime I get nervous I say that in my head.
What are you most proud of in your burlesque career?
Honestly, it’s been selling out shows at Crown & Anchor in Provincetown. The greatest comedians, drag queens, broadway stars, etc have been on that stage for decades. And to be considered among them, getting to showcase my troupe Bearlesque, a few times a year, is a dream come true.
What’s your tagline?
Your Dad’s Gay Best Friend
What aren’t you good at?
Uhh, dating lol
If you could travel to one place, where would it be and why?
Honestly, the UK. Never been and I wanna go. Just never made it happen yet.
One word, describe your personal style.
My burlesque persona is a Daddy who ran away to Vegas to become a showgirl. I’m inspired a lot by Lucille Ball and female comedians. With a pinch of gay nonsense on top.
The Office or The Golden Girls?
I’m a homosexual. Sooo we’re going with Golden Girls. All day everyday.
If you could meet one historic figure (real) who would it be and why?
Oprah. I’ve been obsessed with her forever. I’d love to get brunch with her and just chat for hours.
What is a major turn off to you?
When people don’t vote.
Baked Potato or French Fries?
Yes please. French Fries is the only answer Okurrrr?
What do you do on your days off?
Hang out with friends, try and see shows, kickbox, travel as much as possible, and practice my burlesque.
Who is your ride or die?
Turnpyke. He’s a really talented Boylesque performer. We met at work like 5-6 years ago and I’ve never met a better soul mate for myself. We never argue and just have complete compassion and understanding for each other. And we have so much fun too!
Give us your favorite quote.
“If you wanna stand out, wear red” -My Grandmom
Madonna or Lady Gaga?
GAGA! Madonna is awesome but Gaga slays my life. I just produced a Gaga Drag & Burlesque Tribute Show which turned out to be the gayest night of my life.
What’s your favorite animal?
What’s your favorite thing to cook?
I can’t cook at all. So cereal
What would we be shocked or surprised to know about you?
I used to write a food blog years ago called Josh Can’t Cook, for about 4 years. And I got a ton of gigs & bookings because of it, which truly prepared me for my burlesque life.
Outside of burlesque what are you passionate about?
I’m passionate about politics. It’s so important, especially today, to be well-read about everything that is going on in our world.
What’s the strangest thing someone has ever said to you or done to you?
One time, this older woman walked onstage in Provincetown, while I was closing the show. And I motioned for the bouncer to grab her, but before he could get up there, she ripped my tassel off. And I use spray adhesive! She was screaming “I wanted a souvenir!” Strangest thing ever

Mouth-Breathers! Like stop hoarding all the oxygen, toots.
